About

Welcome to Re-Reads and Reviews!

Music, movies, TV shows, books; I do ’em all. Or I try, anyway.

When I first began posting in 2014, the idea was to post short pieces, daily. Quick 500-800 words reads on the various music albums, TV shows and movies released during the week; bite-sized little nuggets of opinion that wouldn’t tax our generation’s limited attention span too much.

I haven’t written a 500-800 post yet. I realized very quickly that I like the sound of my voice far too much to restrict myself to just 500 words on any given topic and so, I just get pecking away at the keyboard and here we are, two years later, with a small library worth of posts in storage.

The truth is, the motivation for this web-site changed somewhere along the way. When I first started out, it was with the intent of analyzing the creative works of other, presumably better minds and seeing what made the things I loved work, with the intention of one day putting a little something of my own together. As I started doing more and more, I began to realize that I loved the process to taking something apart and peeking inside to see how it worked and doing that with art – whether music, television, literature – was even better. I still have plans to write something of my own, but till then, welcome to Re-Reads And Reviews; I hope you enjoy your stay.

  1. Does your blog have a contact page? I’m having problems locating it
but, I’d like to send you an e-mail. I’ve got some recommendations for your blog
you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great
site and I look forward to seeing it expand over time.

    • Well, every comment is sent to my email, so that’s as good a way as any of reaching me. I generally don’t give my email out though, since it’s a personal one, sorry.

  2. Appreciating the time and energy you put into your blog and in depth
information you provide. It’s awesome to come across a blog every once
in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed information. Wonderful read!
I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to
    my Google account.

  3. Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the images on this blog loading?
I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog.

Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Great blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid
option? There are so many choices out there that I’m
totally confused .. Any recommendations? Thank you!

    • I’m hardly the best person to ask, but I think a free WordPress blog is a good way to explore different blog ideas and stuff. As for suggestions, I wish I could help but apart from keeping at it, I have no idea haha

  5. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about
this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that
you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog.
An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.

  6. I really like your style, your analysis and your attention to details. You seem very open-minded about different media and genres (anime, visual novels, books, movies, tv series, ecc…). Would you like any recommendation for what to see next? I definitively have a bunch of things I’d love you to review.

      • Psycho Pass is one of my all-time favorites, so I’m glad you have it on your schedule!
I’m not very keen on TV shows, the only one I finished and appreciated is “Breaking Bad”. I would recommend it, if you didn’t watch it already.

As far as books are concerned, “1984” by George Orwell is the one I recommend to everyone. I think it’s simply amazing.
Regarding music, I don’t know if it could appeal your tastes, but I’ll drop a title anyway: “Transmissions”, Starset’s first album ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW_FkaXeSwc&list=PL6BsulcnTjtv3k03say7Z1RjihleUU5nE ).

I don’t know if you are into gaming, but since you have played F/SN I’d recommend you to check out “To the Moon”. It’s an indie game, more similar to a visual novel than an actual game. 4 hours long, the gameplay is minimal, but the soundtrack and the narrative are top-tier.
